Excellent time

Rico says the big day finally arrived, and 36 people (including the kids and grandkids) showed up to enjoy the splendid repast prepared by his ladyfriend. Several of the guests had (as could've been expected) ignored Rico's admonition to not bring presents, but his Hobbit-inspired books went over well. His thanks to one and all. The next one will be less work for the ladyfriend, but perhaps his 70th will be extravagant and, hopefully, in some exotic location...

The official word

The Boss sent the definitive email:
Although you probably have received several emails from Mark over the last months (years perhaps) regarding this event, this is the one and only official invitation to Mark's 60th Birthday Party. We will be holding the party on Saturday, April 14th at 6pm, starting with cocktails, dinner will be at 7. Since the venue is located in a quiet residential area there is a cut off  at 11, so we will need to wind up our celebration by then.

The party will be held at the Manor House at Millridge Condominium in Bryn Mawr. The address is 975 Mill Road in Bryn Mawr for you to Google, Mapquest, or enter into your GPS. When you arrive at the property, you will drive up a long driveway and someone will greet you at the top. He will instruct you to make a left into the Manor House circle so that you can drop off your passenger, and he will instruct you to make a right down the same drive so that you can park on the drive, on the right side only.
No doubt you will receive additional emails from the birthday boy, but if you have any questions, please email me directly.

If you could kindly RSVP via email by Friday, 6 April, it would be greatly appreciated.

Christine

Back on

Okay, the other event went mysteriously away, and we're back on for Saturday the 14th of April at Millridge, as before. (Use your GPS to find it at 975 Mill Road in Bryn Mawr; it’s not easy, otherwise.) Dinner is now at 1900 hours (that's 7pm for the digitally-impaired), and is free, courtesy of one of Rico's relatives. Come earlier, if you want; the bar (hosted by Rico) will be open after noon, but nobody actually wants you to drink from noon until dinner...

There will be a special occurrence at the dinner, loosely based on the chapter A Long-expected Party from The Lord of the Rings. I anticipate that you‘ll enjoy it.

Screwed up, as usual

Okay, so I got excited, and sent out the notice without checking. Call me an idiot (everyone does).
Seems there's another event scheduled for the 14th, and we still don't know what time it's scheduled for, thus not knowing if there's a conflict or not.
Hide and watch, as they say.
Updates will be provided.
Sorry.

New place, but same date and time

Rico says it's definite: my birthday dinner will still be on Saturday, 14 April, at 1800 (though you're certainly invited to come earlier and have a beverage or two before dinner), but it will now be at Millridge in Bryn Mawr; all other venues are cancelled.
The menu is still being determined, but will probably feature the ladyfriend's splendid rendition of filet mignon, along with the usual salad, a couple of side dishes, and dessert. It will definitely be BYOB, and we'll probably have a bottle or two for the forgetful, but bring what you like to drink.
The primary difference is that this event is being catered, and paid for, so you eat for free.

PS
There will be a special occurrence at the dinner, loosely based on the chapter A Long-expected Party from The Lord of the Rings. I anticipate that you‘ll enjoy it.

Hide and watch

Mark says the place for dinner is subject to change; you'll be updated as things change. The date is still Saturday, 14 April, at 6pm, but it won't be A La Maison...

Ain't no free lunch

And Rico's birthday dinner (on the 14th of April, remember) won't be either.
While A La Maison isn't the most expensive restaurant around, it's not Denny's-cheap, either, so bring about fifty dollars to pay for your dinner.
Rico says he wishes he could pay for everyone but alas, unless he wins the lottery before then, he can't...
